BLOG 8- Speaker or Technical Visit

 The last technical visit for our dialogue was at a recycled paper mill. The facility receives paper that comes from recycling bins. It is basically mixed with water until it forms a mushy pulp. Then it is spread out onto a sheet and dried to make paper. It was really fun to see all of the machines and how they work. Everything in facility was exposed so we could see every step of the paper making process. The end product was impure white paper with little specks on black and grey in it. The paper mill sells these rolls of paper to manufacturers, as well as making their own paper products. We got to see their machine that makes their own paper bags with their flamingo logo on it! We even got to take two different types of bags for ourself. The paper mill was one of the least smelly and most exciting technical visit of the trip! Here are some photos I took there:

Blog 6- Sinis & Bosa

 This weekend's trip was very eventful. First we took a bus to Sinis where a rock festival was happening. On the way we stopped at a rest area where I have had the best coffee and cappuccino in Italy yet! We were all laughing and talking about how the area we were in looked just like the United States. Every time we leave Cagliari I feel like I am in the central valley of California because of the agriculture and cows. We walked around the town and had a delicious lunch. Then we went to a cool beach with a place to cliff jump. It was about 35 feet high and a little scary to get to. Actually jumping wasn't the hardest part for me. Walking along the jagged cliff before jumping was the hardest part. Then we went to out hotel and had fish dinner. We finished the night by drinking Ichnusas and walking along the beach. Blog 1-expectation

      I have been to Italy once a few years ago. I was in Sicily which I found to be very different from American culture. Since that is my only reference, I would expect the culture to be similar here, however, I could be wrong. In general I found that people were much more social than in the United States. When people heard me speaking English they would come up to me constantly asking where I was from and what I was doing there. I have never been abroad so long in my life as I will be in Cagliari. I think it will be somewhat difficult to spend so much time in a place and not speak the language, although I also expect that most people in Cagliari will speak English. I am not sure about the other smaller towns that we will visit. I hope I will be able to make friends with the Italian student who go to the University. I think that speaking with locals will be the best way to immerse myself in the culture here. I also look forward to trying dishes that are specific to the region. I am o

Blog 2: First Impression

 My first impression of Sardinia has been excellent. Even after less than a week, I think I could move here. The weather is nice, the food is delicious, the people are fun, and the island is beautiful!! The beach has been one of my favorite activities so far. The water is so refreshing, especially on the hot days here. I also loved doing the tour of Castello. The tour guide was amazing and pointed out some things that I would have never noticed. I had no idea that Sardinia has had so many different people rule over it. I was also unaware that part of the island was bombed during World War II. I feel like I have already learned so much about it in the five days I have been here. Exploring Cagliari with the other students on the dialogue has been so fun. Everyone is adventurous and excited to experience as much of Cagliari as possible, which has pushed me out of my comfort zone.
